Philippines Supreme Court Rejects ‘Red-Tagging’

The Philippine Supreme Court issued a major ruling this week declaring “red-tagging” – accusing individuals and groups of supporting the country’s communist insurgency – a threat to people’s life, liberty, and security. Rights groups, including HRW, have long pointed out how the government uses red-tagging to harass, threaten, and at times assault or kill critics of the government.
