| Stephen “ Steve” Tauli, 63 years old, a Regional Council member of the Cordillera Peoples Alliance (CPA) was mauled and abducted last night, August 20, 2022 at around 6-9 pm in front of a store along Ag-a Road, Appas, Tabuk City near the CPA-Kalinga office by 5 armed men believed to be State security forces. The five armed men were also reported to have entered the vicinity of the CPA-Kalinga office. Prior to this incident, Steve was subjected to redtagging, surveillance and harassment as has been experienced by CPA leaders and members. Last week, an NTF-ELCAC activityheld in the Kalinga State University had Eric Celis as a speaker in a forum that continued to rabidly redtag the CPA. Steve is the husband of CPA Vice-chairperson Jill Cariño. We urgently appeal for public support in the search for Stephen “Steve” Tauli. We call on the State for Steve to be immediately and unconditionally surfaced alive.
