Help us find Genelyn “Jen” Dichoso, Karapatan human rights worker in Quezon province.
On April 5, 2021, Dichoso was supposed to go to a doctor with her daughter for a medical check-up regarding a suspected heart condition; she was not feeling well and was having headaches.
Yesterday, April 6, a Karapatan – Quezon staff member received a call from Dichoso who said that she was arrested and is in the custody of the 201st Infantry Brigade in Calauag, Quezon.
Dichoso was a peasant leader in Catanauan, Quezon before she volunteered for Karapatan. In 2020, she faced trumped up charges of attempted homicide. She posted bail and is currently undergoing trial for the said case.
Her colleagues in Karapatan – Quezon have yet to confirm and see if she is indeed in the custody of the aforementioned military unit, as they are being harassed as well. Help us find Jen and ascertain her situation. We are calling for the help of the Commission on Human Rights and volunteer lawyers to help us. ###
