Please find attached the FCO guidelines on UK Support for Human Rights Defenders which came out last week. As you may already be aware, a number of civil society groups including Amnesty and CAFOD had fed back on the draft. While we didn’t get all our suggested amendments into the final version, some of the points did get included and this provides a helpful links to build on for our advocacy work looking at business impact on human rights and addressing impunity so both the UN binding treaty and national HRDD campaigns. It is also really helpful that the UK government has published this document, which has been a longstanding ask.
A next step will be passing it on to our partner organisations so that they know the level of support that they can ask the UK embassy for in their country context.
Do let me know if you have any questions.
All the best,
