Subject: [PhilConcerns] Justice for Kian: Sign-on petition to UN SR on EJKs
Please spread widely….
The August 16 killing of Kian Loyd delos Santos, a 17-year old grade 11 student, by police operatives in an anti-drug operation is only the most recent proof that the Philippine government’s “war on drugs” is inhumane, brutal, and goes against the law.
More than 10,000 suspected drug addicts and pushers have been killed by police operatives in the Philippines under Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s internationally-known “war on drugs.”
The police is enjoying impunity in carrying out extra-judicial killings under the government-sponsored “war on drugs.” The government enjoys no credibility whatsover when it acts to supposedly investigate the killings and seek justice for victims.
Duterte has ordered the killings himself – when, he is careful to point out, drug addicts or pushers resist arrest – and has repeatedly stated that he will stand by policemen who kill under the “war on drugs.”
In this context, please sign-on to this petition attached calling on the United Nations to investigate the killings and to press the government to end extra-juducial killings and other gross human rights violations in the Philippines.
Please send your endorsements to Kababayan4Change@gmail.com and spread this widely.
