The hands of the US-Aquino regime are stained with blood as criminal troops of its Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) continue to kill and violate the rights of the people. Even at the final stretch of his administration, the Lumad people have no hopes for a bright future if his cronies remain in power and his bet Roxas wins in the coming elections.

The Kahugpungan sa mga Lumadnong Organisasyon sa Caraga (Kasalo-Caraga) strongly condemns the executioner and brutal actions of soldiers under the 30th IBPA and 29th IBPA who are conducting military operations in the mountain of Kalatingga in Brgy. Camam-onan, Gigaquit, Surigao del Norte. The soldiers mercilessly strafed six (6) Lumad Mamanwa civilians last April 23, 2016 at around 1 o’clock in the afternoon. They killed Datu Arnel Nayer, his lifeless body found buried in a small and shallow pit, covered by dirt and dead leaves, last April 26, 2016 in the mountain of Kadyawan. Lino Masumay, a farmer, was hit by splinter and was able to flee after the incident, along with four others, towards the community of Sitio Banban, Brgy. Camam-onan, Gigaquit, Surigao del Norte.

We may recall that last November 13, 2015 the AFP bombed the mountain of Kalatingga in the course of prolonged military operations of various military units accompanied by the 30th IBPA. This forced the evacuation of 43 Mamanwa families with 211 individuals to the neighboring community of Sitio Banban. They have not been able to return to their communities since then because of continuing military operations.

The Aquino administration has no compassion for the people. They continue to kill the Lumad, remaining silent over gross incidents of killings of farmers and Lumad people in the mountains that his Philippine soldiers continue to terrorize. This illustrates that killing of Lumad people struggling for rights and abundant lives in ancestral lands is part of the government’s program and its Oplan Bayanihan.

The Aquino government serve the interests of big capitalists, especially foreign mining and other forms of plunder of ancestral lands. Gigaquit is targeted for coal mining by Timberwolves Resources Inc. This is the reason for the worsening threat and the militarization of our communities now. The same coal interest of Abacus Coal Exploration and Development Corp., Benguet Corp., ASK Mining and Exploration Corp. and Great Wall Mining and Power Corp., is the reason for the series of killings, massive evacuations and continuing military operations in Surigao del Sur.

It is clear and evident that the Lumad people are targets of the fascist US-Aquino regime. The criminals who perpetrated the September 1, 2015 Lianga Massacre have not even been arrested yet and the more or less 2, 200 Lumad Manobo evacuees continue to suffer at the Surigao del Sur Sports Complex for close to eight (8) months, and now adding to their number are the Lumad Mamanwa from Sitio Kalatingga in Gigaquit, Surigao del Norte who evacuated last November 13, 2015 and who are continually harassed by military operations.

In the last months of his administration, Benigno Simeon Aquino III, in desperation, is inflicting escalating brutality upon the people. In the midst of the approaching elections, there has been rapid deployment of several military units of the AFP in the mountains of Surigao del Sur, Surigao del Norte and Agusan del Norte. AFP canons are pointed towards the mountain areas where the Lumad communities are. It has bombed and deployed hundreds of soldiers that continue to conduct military operations in the mountains since March. Furtively, the Aquino government is fortifying its brutal control of the Lumad people to continue the shameless peddling of ancestral lands. They want to finish off and suck all the blood of the Lumad people who continue to defend the environment.

The state wants to end and annihilate the strong unity of the Lumad people in their struggle and defense of Ancestral Lands, but the Lumad people have been made stronger by these difficulties and human rights violations. We will continue to seek JUSTICE FOR THE VICTIMS OF KILLINGS OF THE AQUINO ADMINISTRATION. JUSTICE FOR THE VICTIMS OF HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS.

Stop militarization!

Stop Oplan Bayanihan!
