Dear friends and colleagues at CHRP-UK,
Warm greetings of solidarity!
Not too long ago, the International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines (ICHRP), Initiatives for Peace in Mindanao (InPeace), KARAPATAN Alliance for the Advancement of People’s Rights, and Ecumenical Voice for Human Rights and Peace (EcuVoice) have had the pleasure of inviting you to the International Conference for Peoples’ Rights in the Philippines (ICPRP) from July 23 to 24, 2016, to be held in Davao City, Mindanao, Philippines.
Today, we urge you once more to come and visit the Philippines in July as our Filipino brothers and sisters experience even increasing violations of their individual and collective rights by the Aquino government. To wit:
The thousands of displaced Lumad (collective term used to describe the indigenous peoples of Mindanao) have yet to go home because the military and para-militaries continue to occupy their homes and territories. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hW3vhBQJiI
Just last April 1, we bore witness to the brutal dispersal of farmers in Kidapawan – as they simply demanded for the release of disaster relief due them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LTSoLh-JBc
Above are only two among the most heinous attacks of the BS Aquino government, we constantly receive news of human rights violations from different people’s and human rights organizations all over the country.
With this, we also wish to follow-up on your participation to the following activities:
· July 16 to 20, 2016 International Solidarity Missions (ISM) in areas in Mindanao, Cagayan Valley, Eastern Visayas, Panay regions and Southern Tagalog region (TBC); and
· July 21 to 22, 2016 2nd General Assembly of the International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines (ICHRP) in Davao City, Philippines.
We will highly appreciate it if you can send us your REPLY by May 30, 2016. You may do so by filling up the ICPRP 2016 REPLY Form by following the online link here.
The conference registration fee shall range from US$ 300.00 to US$400.00, depending on your chosen accommodation arrangement, that also covers food and your kit for the 2nd General Assembly of the ICHRP and the ICPRP 2016 (check-in from the afternoon of July 20 and check-out in the morning of July 25, in Davao City). Kindly take note that the said fee does not cover airfares and local transportation going to and leaving the conference venue.
Registration to the International Solidarity Missions costs US$ 150, also exclusive of airfares and local transportation going to the main site of the mission.
